Dupuytren e.V. – The Dupuytren Society

Dupuytren e.V. (Dupuytren Society, “e.V.” being the German abbreviation for “Registered Society” or “Registered Charity”) is a non-profit and independent organization, certified by the German Government. The Dupuytren Society is dedicated to inform patients on therapies of the Dupuytren disease and related diseases. They also provide a platform for research institutions and hospitals to inform about new research results. This site contains information on Needle Aponuerotomy (also known as “NA”) – a procedure now performed at The Hand & Wrist Center by Dr. Ross Nathan.

Dupuytren Foundation

The Dupuytren Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) public charity established in 2008. Its mission is to find a cure for Dupuytren Disease as rapidly and efficiently as possible. The goal of this Foundation is to provide free patient support, host academic conferences, and author academic publications. Its flagship effort is the International Dupuytren Data Bank (IDDB). The IDDB has been developed by the Dupuytren Foundation in collaboration with the UCLA Department of Human Genetics, the Arthritis Research Foundation, the Mayo Clinic Biobank, and other academic groups. The IDDB is a research project designed to find a cure for Dupuytren disease as quickly and cost effectively as possible.

International Dupuytren Data Bank (IDDB)

The IDDB is a research project with a target of finding the cause and cure for Dupuytren Disease and related conditions. The IDDB is free for all participants, and has three phases:

  1. Survey people with and without Dupuytren disease for clues about their biology.
  2. Collect blood samples from those surveyed.
  3. Analyze survey results of individual profiles and cross reference these with DNA and other circulating factors to identify the molecular origin of disease. Medical treatments can be developed once the true biologic unique starting point is found.
